HELLO Trainsters
The October Meeting
If you missed the Oct meeting you really missed a great show. We started out at Ron and Barbra Sodens, to see what can be done in a small location in a short time. Many people say I can't do a layout because my yard is very small, or I do not know where to start. Well seeing the Sodens would really show you do not have to have a large area, and their technique was very incouraging. They showed, you do not have to be done in order to enjoy running trains. All I can say is GREAT job guys you have done very well, and
have a very good start on a very well layout. Something you can be very proud of.
Then we met at Craig and Charlene Chesbro, for lunch and the meeting. Two years ago we met at their layout, WOW what a change, of course many many hours of work would change anybodies layout.
The Chesbro's layout has grown to incorporate some real Arkansas rocks. Even in Missouri we call them Boulders, to see how they have removed the dirt around the huge in the ground boulders to incorporate a logging trail down a steep winding trail across trestles and fill ins, and a switch back to a logging camp.
The water mill made from stones and cement, with a very nice sluice, wow really looked great. Craigs engine house and turn table was an absolute treat to see. I had reservations of his turn table until I saw it perform, man was I impressed. Craig great Job. Charlene has really built some very highly detailed structures, she has some very original designs, that would make most any modeler drewel over. (I see a clinic Here )
You guys have done a huge amount of work for us to enjoy, and we as a club really appreciate it.
For the folks that visited Alan Arnolds layout was treated to an elaborate O gauge layout built with huge urban buildings, he has one HUGE imagination, to take something that most of us would throw away as junk, and he turns it into a skyscraper.
Thanks Alan great job.
So next time we visit our wonderful friends and faithful members from the south, be sure to plan on the trip.
It sure was nice to see people in Arkansas, with electricity.
Remember the light at the end of the tunnel could be a train heading your way,
Dennis
